Listen to this ‘conversation’ between two people doing a ‘deep dive’ into Dr. Weiss and cosmetic eyelid surgery. Neither of these voices and none of this conversation is real.
Recently, I came across something interesting that I thought my friends, family and patients might find interesting, and even want to check out for themselves. The other day, a friend sent me a link to a free new AI tool from Google called NotebookLM. I didn’t have much time to play with it, so out of curiosity, I simply typed in my website — www.drweiss.com — and hit submit.
To my surprise, a few minutes later, I was listening to a ‘conversation’ between two ‘people’ doing a deep dive into me and cosmetic eyelid surgery! The entire discussion was generated by artificial intelligence — completely unscripted by me. This is an example of what is happening to us right now – and I imagine that it will only get better (or worse, depending on your point of view) in the future.
What struck me was how real the voices sounded, even at this very early stage of AI development. The AI pulled some information straight from my site, but it also added its own commentary and opinions that I never wrote. Overall, it was surprisingly neutral and accurate.
In this case, the AI did a reasonably good job and avoided major factual errors. However, it’s important to remember that AI-generated content, even when it sounds credible, may not always be accurate or complete. Complex medical questions should always be discussed with a qualified physician who can assess your individual needs. I personally believe that doctors — and anyone else — should be transparent about when and how these tools are being used.
According to Wikipedia, NotebookLM is designed to help people make sense of complex topics by summarizing and explaining uploaded materials — kind of like having a digital study buddy that can read, outline, and even chat about your notes. Pretty fascinating stuff.
So, what does AI think of Dr. Weiss? Apparently, I think it likes me, or in any case it thinks I’m worth a pretty detailed discussion! I’ll take that as a compliment — and a reminder that we should all be transparent and skeptical when using these powerful new tools.
