Newport Beach, CA, April 13, 2012 — On the eve of the 10th anniversary of Botox Cosmetic, Richard Weiss, M.D. today shared a number of incredible coincidences and events that have linked him and the popular wrinkle-relaxing drug.
As one of the premiere oculoplastic surgeons in the country, Dr. Weiss has been using Botox for ophthalmologic reasons since 1989, well before its cosmetic use. He had already been named a trainer for Allergan in the use of Botox Cosmetic and was being interviewed on the radio about the product on his birthday 10 years ago on the very day of the FDA approval (Botox Cosmetic’s ‘birthday’.) Since 2002, the two have continued to be linked in many ways. Dr. Weiss has been elevated to secret agent status in a clever parody of the song “Secret Agent Man” entitled, “Mr. Botox Man”.
Dr. Weiss continues to innovate with Botox with the Weiss ComfortShield, a revolutionary prototype device designed to eliminate the pain of Botox treatments. With his nonprofit organization One World Sight Project, Dr. Weiss and participating physicians have held National Botox Cosmetic fundraisers to help treat curable blindness.
“Botox and I are old friends,” said Dr. Weiss, “and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Congratulations to Allergan for creating such a multifunctional and well-loved product. We are proud to continue to offer it in our office and to our family of patients.”
Richard Weiss is a Newport Beach-based oculoplastic surgeon, where he has been practicing medicine for over 25 years. He specializes in blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery) and Botox Cosmetic treatments.
